Château Haut Grelot is located in Saint Ciers Sur Gironde, approximately 50 kms norh of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Gironde Estuary. As one of the Grands Vins de Bordeaux, Château Haut Grelot represents an era of dynamism and innovation. Château Haut Grelot was established in 1920 in the village of “Les Grelots”. Joel Bonneau and his father before him were wine growers and cattle breeders. In 1975, Joel took over the family estate and concentrated exclusively on wine production.
Over the last thirty years, they have expanded the vineyards using the best quality grapes. The Sauvignon Blanc grape is ideally suited to their soil and is today thriving, producing exceptional wines. As a pioneer in wine-growing technology, Joel is dedicated to modernizing production methods, whilst working in harmony with nature and sharing his passion with us. Château Haut Grelot comprises 58 hectares of vineyards. Joel aims to pass on this proud tradition to his children Céline and Julien, happy in the knowledge that they will continue in the production of premium wine.
Chateau La Haye
According to legend this home sheltered Henri II and Diane de Poitier as their hunting lodge. Although married to Catrine de Medici, Henri II had a special affection for Diane de Poitiers, who was his governess. Their monogram H and D interlaced, is engraved in stone at the entrance to the Chateau. This monogram is also found in the Anet and Fontainebleau homes of historical lovers. The royal monogram has now become the symbol of Chateau La Haye and decorates all our labels.
Chateau La Haye is part of a long wine tradition, with the establishment of the vineyard dating back to 1557, when Sir Janot Bernard of Leyssac acquired the property and planted the first vines. It is one of the oldest castles of Saint Estephe. The property has remained within the same family for 370 years.
